Good morning, folks! I don’t remember when it started but for the past few years at least, every March while society does its ‘girl power’ thing, the Irish in me blood awakens from whatever slumber it was in, shoves its way past the Czech and English and other ancestries, links arms with the Scottish, and…then I proceed to listen to Irish tunes – mostly the Irish Rovers – the entire month (*acts like I haven’t already listened to Irish tunes way before March*).
And each year, ‘Fields of Athenry’ (specifically the Paddy Reilly version which is the best version) and ‘Thousands Are Sailing’ by The Pogues try to make me cry. Admittedly, I do tear up…
*clears throat* So, let’s get settled in for a recap of last month, then move on to my goals for this month.
FEBRUARY RECAP
Reading
I only finished one thing and it was something that hadn’t been on my list for the month: The Doom of Slavery in The Union by John Townsend. I read it for research purposes and…yiiiikes. Not surprising, but still. Yikes.
Writing
I got a little writing done for a short story I want to submit to another anthology and wrote a snippet that will take place towards the end of the second book in my Civil War series, which then opened up a can of emotional worms and also realized I already implemented the foreshadowing of it in that short story.
Folks, make sure you have tissues on hand when I actually get this series written and published. You’ll need them.
Special Note
I. GOT. PUBLISHED. IN. TWO ANTHOLOGIES. TWO. AT THE SAME TIME. yes I’m still wrapping my head around that fact why do you ask
You can check them out HERE and HERE!!
MARCH GOALS
Reading
I have 6 books in regards to Ireland and…half of them are about the Great Famine. I also have my massive Civil War pile to continue working through.
Writing
Still going to plod along on HM, ATFE, and that short story.
That’s it for today! How was your February? What’re your plans for March?
